Tattoo Aftercare
Congrats on your new tattoo! Proper aftercare is key to making sure it heals beautifully and lasts a lifetime. Follow these simple steps:
Without Saniderm/Second Skin
Keep the bandage on for 30 minutes to 1 hour after your session.
Wash gently with lukewarm water and unscented antibacterial soap (Gold Dial recommended). Pat dry with a clean paper towel—don’t rub!
Let the tattoo air out for about an hour before applying anything.
For the first 4 days, wash and apply a thin layer of Aquaphor 1-3 times per day. Don’t overdo it—too much moisture can slow healing.
After Day 5, switch to an unscented, hypoallergenic lotion (like Lubriderm) to help with peeling and itching.
Avoid soaking the tattoo in water (baths, pools, hot tubs) until it’s fully healed.
With Saniderm/Second Skin
Keep Saniderm on for a minimum of 3 days and a maximum of 7 days.
If it falls off early due to plasma seepage, you can:
Reapply a new bandage (available at most pharmacies).
Follow the “Without Saniderm” aftercare steps instead.
After removal, wash with Gold Dial soap and start using an unscented lotion (like Lubriderm) to help with peeling and itching.
Long-Term Tattoo Care
Sun is your tattoo’s worst enemy—always apply a strong SPF lotion when in direct sunlight.
Stay hydrated and moisturize regularly to keep your tattoo looking fresh for years to come.
No picking, scratching, or scrubbing! Let the peeling happen naturally to avoid pigment loss.
Got any questions? Just ask! Otherwise, follow these steps, and your tattoo will heal perfectly. 😊
